Papineau Lake sits south of Barry's Bay in Hastings Highlands, roughly 30 minutes from both Bancroft and Barry's Bay. It's known regionally for exceptionally clean, deep water and a large island — Davis Island — visible from much of the lake.
About 25% of the shoreline remains Crown land, and a public beach on the southeast side gives non-waterfront visitors a way to enjoy the lake.
