About Chandos Lake
Chandos Lake is the largest lake in the Crowe River watershed and one of the few area lakes over 1,000 hectares with an average depth over 10 metres. It's shaped like a reversed L, with three main bays — West Bay, South Bay, and Gilmour Bay.
Fed largely by underground springs, Chandos drains north into Flat Creek, then the Crowe River, and eventually reaches Lake Ontario at Trenton. It's a head lake rather than part of the managed Trent-Severn Waterway system.
Fishing
Chandos is an officially designated Lake Trout lake — a designation only about 1% of Ontario lakes carry — with trout found in water 100+ feet deep in the north/east channel. Bass, bluegill, pumpkinseed, and pike round out a diverse fishery across the lake's many bays.

As a busy recreational lake, Chandos sees significant boat traffic on summer weekends; all shoals are clearly marked given the lake's popularity with larger boats.
